Learn how to breeze through airport security with TSA PreCheck and Global Entry. This blog explains the benefits of these programs, recent changes to Global Entry fees, and how you can get them for free using popular credit cards. Discover which credit cards offer TSA PreCheck/Global Entry fee credits and start traveling with ease, whether alone or with your kids.
Understanding TSA PreCheck
If you travel frequently, whether alone or with kids, TSA PreCheck can make your airport experience much smoother. TSA PreCheck is a program that allows low-risk travelers to enjoy expedited security screening at participating U.S. airports. With TSA PreCheck, you can keep your shoes, belt, and light jacket on, and leave your laptop and liquids in your bag. This streamlined process saves you time and hassle, making it a favorite among frequent travelers.
Understanding Global Entry
Traveling internationally can be stressful, especially with kids in tow. Global Entry can significantly ease your re-entry into the U.S. Global Entry is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program that allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States. Members enter the U.S. through automatic kiosks at select airports. Global Entry also includes TSA PreCheck benefits, making it a comprehensive choice for international travelers.
New Changes
Starting in October 2024, the fee for Global Entry will increase to $120. However, children 17 and younger will no longer have to pay for Global Entry if they apply at the same time as a parent or guardian, or if they already have Global Entry. Children will still need to apply and be approved.
